The Forest Tower (Skovtårnet) is one of the most ambitious and successful Danish tourist attractions in recent years. With over 350,000 visitors in its inaugural year in 2019 and almost 400,000 visitors in 2020 it has become an international superhit amongst travelers and has become an icon for Southern Zealand.

With its setting in a forest in the rural areas of Southern Zealand one hour from Copenhagen, it is an example of contemporary high-quality attractions outside of the metropoles. The Forest Tower was the most featured Danish attraction in international media in 2019 and has been in numerous TV programs.

The Forest Tower is a spectacular and challenging structure that at the same time appears like a very simple structure. The dimensions and choice of materials are carefully integrated with the surrounding landscape and forest, which enhance the nature and architectural experience.

In this webinar, we will present the history of The Forest Tower project starting with the investors' initial ideas and ambitions back in 2014, how the structure and landscape work together, the choice of materials, structural solutions, the construction, challenges in the project, co-operation between the participants to the inauguration ceremony in 2019 by former Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

Skovtårnet won the special Award of the Board of IABSE Denmark in 2019.

The presentation will be in English. At the end of the presentation there will be a Q&A session.
